On October 10th 1963, French singer & song-writer Edith Piaf also known as “la môme” died at age 47.
She was born in Paris in the Belleville district, on December 19th 1915, to a poor family and was abandoned at birth by her mother. Although Edith Piaf later became renowned world-wide for her songs: some of the most famous were “La Vie en Rose”, “Non, je ne regrette rien” and “Milord”, her life was marked by a series of tragedies and illnesses, and she passed away in the South of France on October 10, 1963, from a liver-related disease.
She is buried at the Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris .
